お好み焼き-OKONOMI-YAKI- Japanese style pancake

I assume that lots of people have ever heard 'お好み焼き:OKONOMI-YAKI', Japanese style pancakes.

'OKONOMI' means 'Your Favorite', so you can put anything you want in OKONOMI-YAKI (*'-')b

Popular toppings are:
*Meat ― We usually use thin sliced meat and pork which is the most popular one.
*Seafood ― Prawns, Squids are popular.
*Cabbage ― This is essential!  I usually chop it finely.
*Cheese ― This can be a good accent of the taste! Yum! (^▽^)/
*Taro ― If you add them, the dough turns to soft and kinda fluffy.
*Spring onions ― There is a similar and popular dish called 'ねぎ焼き:NEGI-YAKI',
which uses  lots of spring onions instead of cabbage.  It's yum!
So of course, spring onions go well with OKONOMI-YAKI!
    * Kim chi ― Kim chi goes well with pork.  So why not??

Since thin sliced meat is hard to get (and usually expensive!!) in Australia, I usually use mince instead of thin sliced meat.
Mince is incredibly reasonable in Australia!!
Mince is ESSENTIAL to live in Australia!  Hahaha

We usually do not use seafood because darling does not like it...( ̄▽ ̄;)!!
I LOVE prawns... but oh well.. can't be helped..

Our favorite toppings are Pork mince, cabbage and cheese.

For dough, I usually use this
I bought this at Asian grocery store in the city for $2.00 on sale.
This comes with three bags of mixing for OKONOMIYAKI dough and you don't need anything but only two eggs, 100g flour and 150ml water.

Of course, you can make dough by yourself.

Use one cup of flour, two table spoons of HONDASHI (Blog'Basic')two eggs and a half cup of water.

Easy, isn't it?!

Plain flour is a bit heavy, so I usually mix plain flour and self raising flour.
Then OKONOMI-YAKI turns to fluffy and yum!!

All right!  Let's Cook!!

Now, make the dough, throw the toppings as you like, mix and bake it!!

You can of course cook them on a pan, but ours is small so we cooked on BBQ ...ρ(・・、)

We had sausages as well this time.
 Yum Yum!!

Tadaaan!!

Yum Yum OKONOMI-YAKI!!!

Pour sauce(OKONOMI-YAKI sauce is available at Asian Grocery.  YAKISOBA sauce, TONKATSU sauce are fine as well.) and mayonnaise on OKONOMI-YAKI.  If you have and if you like, add Bonito flakes on it. Yum!!

Now...
いただきま~す
(ITADAKIMASU: a greeting you say before you eat)

This dish costs around $2.50 for 6 pieces OKONOMI-YAKI, which is enough for three adults.

Mmmm..  Yum Yum!!

ごちそうさまでした~
(GOCHISOU-SAMA-DESHITA: a greeting you say after you eat)

【NOTE】
If Japanese sauce I mentioned is not available, you can also use Worcester sauce.
In that case, you might be better to mix it with mayonnaise and use it as OKONOMI-YAKI sauce.
This is my family's style.
Make sure that you use Japanese mayonnaise not western ones!!
Japanese mayonnaise is always the BEST!!!
